About the UAE expands student visa and residency programs to five plus years (2026)

The UAE will now offer five-year visas for international students, in lieu of the current one-year visa term in place. Additionally, they are preparing to introduce ten-year residency options to high performing students and students who currently live as dependants to their parents in The UAE. The [announcement](https://www.zawya.com/mena/en/story/Fiveyear_visas_will_attract_international_students_to_UAE_KHDA-SNG_116917964) was made last week by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The news comes as The UAE works to introduce a knowledge-based economy into what has traditionally been an oil and gas economy. The country has steadily been positioning itself as an international education hub. As host to the second largest number of university branch campuses in the world after only China, they are well on their way to not only building a knowledge pool but a highly trained workforce to fill jobs that require international applicants in-country. Dubai is currently home to more than 200 nationalities which accounts for 90% of the population. 40,000 of whom are international students? The country should see a boost to these numbers as the new visa extension goes into effect. Other countries that are extending visa parameters and work periods for foreign students include Canada, Japan, China, Ireland and Taiwan. These countries have also introduced policies that make it easier for international students including African Students to study, work and in some cases immigrate. While looking at post-secondary and career opportunities, be sure to look at local and international institutions in the United Arab Emirates. ### Share this: - [Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Facebook](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/uae-expands-student-visa-and-residency-programs-to-five-plus-years/?share=facebook&nb=1) - [Share on X (Opens in new window)X](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/uae-expands-student-visa-and-residency-programs-to-five-plus-years/?share=twitter&nb=1) - [Share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)WhatsApp](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/uae-expands-student-visa-and-residency-programs-to-five-plus-years/?share=jetpack-whatsapp&nb=1) - [Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)LinkedIn](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/uae-expands-student-visa-and-residency-programs-to-five-plus-years/?share=linkedin&nb=1) - [Share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Telegram](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/uae-expands-student-visa-and-residency-programs-to-five-plus-years/?share=telegram&nb=1) - [More](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/uae-expands-student-visa-and-residency-programs-to-five-plus-years/#) - [Print (Opens in new window)Print](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/uae-expands-student-visa-and-residency-programs-to-five-plus-years/#print?share=print&nb=1) - [Share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Reddit](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/uae-expands-student-visa-and-residency-programs-to-five-plus-years/?share=reddit&nb=1) - [Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)Tumblr](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/uae-expands-student-visa-and-residency-programs-to-five-plus-years/?share=tumblr&nb=1) - [Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)Pinterest](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/uae-expands-student-visa-and-residency-programs-to-five-plus-years/?share=pinterest&nb=1) ### Like this: LikeLoading... ### _Related_ [Top 5 Highest-Ranked Universities in United Arab Emirates](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/top-5-highest-ranked-universities-in-united-arab-emirates/ "Top 5 Highest-Ranked Universities in United Arab Emirates") [Graduate Route visa allows international students to stay and work in the UK for 2 years after graduation](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/graduate-route-visa-allows-international-students-to-stay-and-work-in-the-uk-for-2-years-after-graduation/ "Graduate Route visa allows international students to stay and work in the UK for 2 years after graduation") [Canada Aims to Fast Track Nigerian Student Applications](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/canada-aims-to-fast-track-nigerian-student-applications/ "Canada Aims to Fast Track Nigerian Student Applications") In[Canada](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/tag/canada/), [China](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/tag/china/), [Education Hub](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/tag/education-hub/), [International Student Admission](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/tag/international-student-admission/), [Ireland](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/tag/ireland/), [Japan](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/tag/japan/), [post secondary](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/tag/post-secondary/), [Student VISA](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/tag/student-visa/), [Taiwan](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/tag/taiwan/), [The UAE](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/tag/the-uae/), [UAE](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/tag/uae/), [United Arab Emirates](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/tag/united-arab-emirates/), [VISA](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/tag/visa/)
