Details for the PhD Studentship in Asthma Reviews

The said postgraduate study awards will explore how on-line asthma reviews are perceived and used in the context of multiple modes of consulting.

Furthermore, the student will then compile a toolkit including organizational procedures to support the safe use of on-line/remote reviews and test the feasibility of the implementation of this guidance in routine primary care.

The objectives of this research are as follows:

  • Undertake a systematic review of existing approaches to on-line asthma reviews
  • Explore the feasibility, acceptability, perceived effectiveness, safety and organisational context of implementing on-line (and other modes of) asthma reviews from the perspective of all stakeholders.
  • Develop safe procedures for safe use of on-line reviews (and other modes of consultation)
  • Test the feasibility of implementing the on-line review procedure

In terms of funding, the PhD studentship in Asthma Reviews shall be shouldered by The University of Edinburgh for three years. It will also cover a stipend rate of £15,609 from the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) funding agency, a £5,000 annual research allocation, up to £500 travel/conference expenses, as well as waived tuition fees at home or internationally under the University of Edinburgh’s PhD Tuition Fee Contribution Scheme.

Eligibility of International Students

The University of Edinburgh is accepting applications from local and international students with a PhD degree program in Machine Learning for Medical Imaging.

To qualify for the PhD studentships in Asthma Reviews, the aspiring scholars must have a 2:1 or higher in a relevant undergraduate degree or its equivalent if outside the UK. A strong performance and postgraduate degree track record will also increase your chances of acceptance.
