Frequently asked questions

Is Ireland cheaper than the UK?

Often yes for Master's — tuition is typically €10,000–25,000 vs. £20,000–40,000 in the UK, and Ireland gives a 2-year stay-back like the UK Graduate Route.

Do I need IELTS / TOEFL?

Yes, unless your prior degree was taught entirely in English. Some universities accept Duolingo English Test.

Can I work while studying in Ireland?

Yes — 20 hours/week during the term, 40 hours/week during scheduled holidays on a Stamp 2 visa.

Is Brexit relevant?

Only if you plan to travel UK ↔ Ireland — Ireland remains in the EU and uses the euro.

Can African students stay in Ireland after graduating?

Yes — every bachelor's, master's and PhD graduate qualifies for the Stamp 1G Third Level Graduate Programme, giving 1–2 years of open work rights to find a job and transition to a critical-skills employment permit.

Which Irish university is cheapest for African Master's students?

Maynooth, UL and DCU typically sit at the lower end of the €10,000–25,000 range. Combined with the Government of Ireland Scholarship (€10,000 + fee waiver), a Master's can be effectively fully funded.
