## Benefits of the Cornell University Fellowships
Fellowships are generally merit-based internal or external awards to support a student in a full-time course of study. In the same way, the Cornell University Fellowships include full tuition, a nine-month stipend, and Cornell individual student health insurance. A summer stipend may also be provided to students.
Approximately 20% of Cornell University’s doctoral students studying on campus receive the said opportunity.
## Eligibility for African PhD Students
Please note that PhD applicants who are citizens of an African country and not permanent residents of the United States are eligible for this award.
## How to Apply for the Fellowships
In order to qualify for this fellowship opportunity, East African PhD students , must first request consideration.
Interested parties must notify their chosen graduate field of their eligibility and request that they be nominated to the Graduate School prior to the fellowship deadline of February 15.
