The Melbourne Research Scholarships (MRS) is awarded to both domestic international students wishing to undertake graduate research degree studies at the University of Melbourne in Australia. MIRSs are fully-funded by the university, with each faculty having a limited number to award.
It covers any graduate research degree currently being offered at the said Australian institution.

## Melbourne Research Scholarship Value
Over 140 countries have sought an education at the esteemed University of Melbourne. The institution acknowledges that diversity in student background also entails different ambitions and career paths. As such, the University of Melbourne’s community offers a huge variety of scholarships that cater to specific international student needs.
**For the MIRS, benefits include:**
· 100% tuition fee remission
Living allowance of $24,653 per annum (2013 rate).
· Relocation Grant of $2,000 awarded to students who are moving from interstate in order to study at the University of Melbourne or $3,000 awarded to those who are moving from overseas.
· Thesis Allowance of up to $420 (2013 rate) for masters by research and up to $840 (2013 rate) for PhD and other doctorates by research candidates.
· Paid, sick, maternity and parenting leave.

Out of the annual 600 new MRS awards, half are generally awarded to international students. The international leg of the MRS, known as the MIRS, has been established in 2016 to honor high-achieving students in the field of research.
The distinctive Melbourne experience helps graduates become well-rounded, thoughtful and skilled professionals – making a positive impact across the globe.
Furthermore, the institution’s research helps solve social, economic and environmental challenges the world is facing today and into the future.
## Eligibility Criteria for Interested Master’s and PhD Students
To be considered for MIRS, applicants need to have an unconditional offer of a place in a graduate research degree course (e.g. master’s by research, PhD, or other research doctorates) at the University of Melbourne.
On another note, interested parties must have applied for and meet the entry requirements for a master’s or doctorate by research degree at the University of Melbourne.
They can also be currently enrolled in a research degree at the University of Melbourne and have at least 12 months (full-time equivalent) of candidature remaining. Both commencing and currently enrolled international research higher degree students may apply.
## How to Apply for a Fully-Funded Scholarship

Students will then be notified that a scholarship application has been added to their record within seven days of having submitted the online form.
