About the AAI Salzburg Scholarship Program 2021 for Study in Austria | Deadline: July 31, 2021 (2026)

**Type:** Master’s or PhD **Location:** Salzburg or Tyrol, Austria **Application deadline:** July 31, 2021 * * * The Afro Asiatisches Institut Salzburg (AAI) opens its doors for students from developing countries under the One-World Scholarship Programme. The grant aims to support international students from Africa, Asia, and Latin America who are interested in development issues and who have come to Austria on their own initiative in order to complete their education. With a partial scholarship and a monthly allowance of 500 € at Master’s level and 550 € at PhD level, the One World Scholarship grant supports students at public universities or universities of Applied Sciences in the regions of Salzburg and Tyrol. The scholarship **gives priority to female students**, as it believes that exercising the right to education for critical and intellectual young people who encounter poor conditions in their home countries affect women more. ### **Eligibility** To successfully qualify for a spot, the applicant must: - Be a citizen of a non-European developing country (Refer to: [Official Country List](https://ocms.at/upload/kunden/2/bilder/laenderliste-2021100.pdf)) - Have a resident student permit for Austria - Be a maximum age of 30 years old for Master’s studies (35 years old for mothers), and 35 years for PhD studies (40 years old for mothers) - Have admission to a Master’s or PhD programme at a university or university of Applied Sciences in Salzburg or Tyrol (e.g. Uni Salzberg, Uni Innsbruck, Fachhochschule Salzburg, MCI, FH Kufstein) ### **Requirements** An applicant’s success at getting in can be determined by several factors, the most common and have most impact would be: **FINANCIAL NEED.** AAI and the One-World Scholarship Programme prioritizes select students who would hardly be able to finish their studies without financial support. They take income, savings, other means of support, profession, and income of parents when choosing from a pool of applicants. **EVIDENCE OF GOOD PROGRESS IN STUDIES.** Students who have already completed at least one semester at an Austrian university have an advantage in programmes without entrance exams. Overall, however, academic excellence and good documented study progress documents through transcript of records for current and past studies will also heavily impact the application process. **INTEREST IN DEVELOPMENT AND ACCORDING SPECIALIZATION IN STUDIES.** Prospective scholars must show strong interest in development-related issues. This should be reflected in their choice of study fields, prior work experiences, and voluntary activities. Possible fields of specialization include, but not limited to, the following: - Poverty reduction - Social justice - Global migrations - Gender equality - Climate change - Sustainable use of resources - Food security - Renewable energies - Environmental protection - Sustainable tourism - Urbanization - Health - Human rights - Democratization - Good governance - Fighting corruption - Conflict prevention and resolution - International relations - Intercultural dialogue * * * To apply, download either the [Application Form for Master Students](https://ocms.at/upload/kunden/2/bilder/sew_ansuchen_master_21-22.pdf) or the [Application Form for PhD Students](https://ocms.at/upload/kunden/2/bilder/sew_ansuchen_doktorat_21-22.pdf) and send your complete application documents to [office@aai-salzburg.at](mailto:office@aai-salzburg.at) For more questions and clarifications, visit the [AAI One World Scholarship Program 2021 official webpage](https://aai-salzburg.at/en_students_apply.htm). ### Share this: - [Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Facebook](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/aai-salzburg-scholarship-program-study-in-austria/?share=facebook&nb=1) - [Share on X (Opens in new window)X](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/aai-salzburg-scholarship-program-study-in-austria/?share=twitter&nb=1) - [Share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)WhatsApp](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/aai-salzburg-scholarship-program-study-in-austria/?share=jetpack-whatsapp&nb=1) - [Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)LinkedIn](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/aai-salzburg-scholarship-program-study-in-austria/?share=linkedin&nb=1) - [Share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Telegram](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/aai-salzburg-scholarship-program-study-in-austria/?share=telegram&nb=1) - [More](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/aai-salzburg-scholarship-program-study-in-austria/#) - [Print (Opens in new window)Print](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/aai-salzburg-scholarship-program-study-in-austria/#print?share=print&nb=1) - [Share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Reddit](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/aai-salzburg-scholarship-program-study-in-austria/?share=reddit&nb=1) - [Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)Tumblr](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/aai-salzburg-scholarship-program-study-in-austria/?share=tumblr&nb=1) - [Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)Pinterest](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/aai-salzburg-scholarship-program-study-in-austria/?share=pinterest&nb=1) ### Like this: LikeLoading... ### _Related_ [Melbourne International Research Scholarship at the University of Melbourne: Fully-Funded +  up to $110,000 allowance for Masters and PhD students](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/melbourne-international-research-scholarship-at-the-university-of-melbourne-fully-funded-for-masters-and-phd-students/ "Melbourne International Research Scholarship at the University of Melbourne: Fully-Funded +  up to $110,000 allowance for Masters and PhD students") [Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Program – Fully-funded Master’s and PhD for Study in France](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/eiffel-excellence-scholarship-program-fully-funded-masters-and-phd-for-study-in-france/ "Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Program – Fully-funded Master’s and PhD for Study in France") [University of Sydney Postgraduate International Scholarships](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/university-of-sydney-postgraduate-international-scholarships/ "University of Sydney Postgraduate International Scholarships") In[Scholarships](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/tag/scholarships/), [Study in Austria](https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/tag/study-in-austria/)

How to apply for the AAI Salzburg Scholarship Program 2021 for Study in Austria | Deadline: July 31, 2021 2026

A practical, sponsor-agnostic sequence used by >95% of international scholarship applicants. Adapt to the sponsor's specific portal — the order rarely changes.

  1. 1
Confirm eligibility on the official site

Open https://aai-salzburg.at/en_students_apply.htm and verify the sponsor's stated criteria match your profile — currently: "Open to international students including Africans; specific eligibility (nationality, age, academic record, field of study) varies by program — see the official site for full requirements.". Sponsor rules change between intakes, so always confirm against the live call.

  2. 2
Secure a study place or admission offer

Identify a supervisor whose research aligns with yours, exchange emails, and either obtain a conditional offer or confirmation that they will host your project. Many Various awards require this before the funding application opens.

  3. 3
Sit required tests and gather documents

Register for IELTS / TOEFL / Duolingo (or SAT / GRE where required), request official transcripts, brief two or three referees, and prepare passport and identity documents at high resolution.

  4. 4
    Draft your essays and statements

Write a focused 1,000–2,000-word research proposal and a separate personal statement. Tailor every paragraph to the sponsor's stated priorities — generic recycled essays are the most common reason strong applicants are rejected.

  5. 5
    Complete the online application

Create an account on https://aai-salzburg.at/en_students_apply.htm, fill in every field, and upload the required documents in the formats specified (PDF, max file size, single-file vs multi-file). Save progress frequently — most portals time out after 30–60 minutes.

  6. 6
Submit by Varies — check official site (aim 7 days early)

Sponsor portals routinely slow or fail in the final 24 hours. Submit early, download the confirmation receipt, and screenshot the submission timestamp. Late submissions are not accepted under any circumstances.

  7. 7
    Prepare for shortlist interviews

If shortlisted, Various will contact you within 4–12 weeks. Re-read your essays, rehearse 3–5 likely questions out loud, and confirm your time zone for any video interview.
