The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS, formerly KGSP) is the largest fully funded route for Africans, covering tuition, monthly stipend, return airfare, settlement allowance and a one-year Korean language course. KAIST International, POSTECH, Seoul National University Presidential, Yonsei Underwood, Korea University Global KU, and the AI Graduate Scholarships are the other dominant fully funded routes. Most graduate programmes are taught in English; GKS includes a free year of Korean language preparation.

What is the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS)?

GKS (formerly KGSP) is the Korean Government Scholarship covering full tuition, monthly stipend (KRW 900,000 for Undergraduates, KRW 1,000,000–1,300,000 for graduate research), round-trip airfare, settlement, medical insurance and a one-year Korean language course.

Do I need to speak Korean to study in South Korea?

How long does the Korea scholarship application take?

GKS opens in February (Embassy Track) and September (University Track). Decisions are typically released between June and December for the following March or September intake.

Can African graduates work in Korea after studying?

Yes — the D-10 Job Seeker visa allows graduates to stay up to 2 years (1 year + 1 extension) to look for skilled work, after which they can transition to E-7 specialised employment visas.
