Margaret McNamara Education Grants Photographic Competition

In celebration of its 40th anniversary, the Margaret McNamara Education Grants (MMEG) is holding a photographic competition.

Themed “Women Build a Better World”, the contest is open to all, just as long as entries meet and dutifully understand the subject matter.

Deadline of entries: September 15, 2021

The photo contest shall award $500 for the first placer. Meanwhile, the second and third prizes are worth $300 and $100, respectively.

Moreover, three diplomas will be handed out for the honorable mentions.

Margaret McNamara Education Grants Details

MMEG supports women from developing countries who are pursuing their education with the aim of improving the lives of women and children in their countries.

This is achieved through providing financial assistance and other related forms of funding.

Self-identifying women who are from eligible countries, at least 25 years old, and enrolled in eligible universities (as certificate, undergrad, grad, or postdoc students) are welcome to apply.

Eligibility Criteria

The photographic competition is open to all nationalities. There are also no restrictions in terms of age and equipment. Interested individuals may choose to use any camera or mobile phone to submit their photos.

Judged by internationally-accredited photographers Cheriss May, Karen Dias, Katie Jett Walls, and Molly Roberts, the MMEG Photographic Competition has two categories.

The first category is Single Image, while the other one is a series of 3-5 images.

All photos are welcome for judging but some preference will be given to photos representing women in countries eligible to receive MMEG grants.

This competition is hosted in an agreement between LensCulture and Margaret McNamara Education Grants.
