The Rhodes Scholarships are postgraduate awards supporting exceptional all-around students at the University of Oxford. Established in the will of Cecil Rhodes in 1902, Rhodes is the oldest and perhaps the most prestigious international scholarship program in the world.

Each year, a class of 95 scholars will be granted the Rhodes Scholarship which covers the following:

The level and fields of study covered by the said scholarship is subject to limited restrictions, but Rhodes scholars may opt to study any full-time postgraduate degree at the University of Oxford.

Furthermore, specific age requirements differ between the Rhodes constituent countries. Typically, the range falls between 18-24, with the maximum age sometimes extending to 28. It is advised that you check the specific age requirements that fall under your country before applying.

In terms of educational attainment, all applicants must have achieved academic standing sufficiently advanced to assure completion of a bachelor’s degree by the October following election. To add, the applicants’ academic standing must meet the University of Oxford’s standard of excellence.

Application

Applications for Rhodes Scholarships open during the spring and summer of the preceding year, normally 1 June or 1 July. Deadline varies per country but is around July-October of the preceding year you wish to study.
