## Overview Under the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) General Scholarship Scheme, the Government of India offers seats each academic year to Malawian students for undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral study at Indian universities. The scheme is administered locally by the High Commission of India in Lilongwe. ## Benefits - Tuition and university fees. - Monthly living stipend and annual contingency/thesis grant. - House rent allowance or hostel accommodation. - Medical cover; one-time economy airfare in most streams. ## Eligibility - Malawian nationals meeting the entry qualifications for the chosen course. - Standard age limits by level (typically 18-30 for Bachelors and Masters, up to 35 for PhD). - Proficiency in English; some courses require specific subject backgrounds. Medicine, dentistry and nursing are excluded from the general scheme. ## How to apply Apply online through the Government of India A2A Scholarship portal and submit supporting documents to the High Commission of India, Lilongwe. The round for the 2026-2027 academic year closed on **15 April 2026**; a fresh call is issued annually, usually in the first quarter.
