Payment is a lump sum in the autumn after enrollment. Certain permanent, dependent, spouse and long-term residence categories excluded. All recipients must complete the post-enrollment scholarship application. ## Eligibility Foreign first-year entrants with eligible Japanese residence status, including overseas candidates who will acquire it. School of International Studies route requires age 18 by enrollment, recognised schooling and English proficiency. ## Application timing Status: UPCOMING. 5–12 November 2026: School of International Studies second-examination admission/application-fee window; 15:00 Japan Time fee cutoff on 12 November. Reserved award considered through admission; not a separate award deadline. — Asia/Tokyo ## How to apply Apply through TAO for the verified School of International Studies examination. Award category accompanies admission, but all eligible students must also submit the post-enrollment scholarship application. The JPY 15,000 application fee must be paid within the window; credit-card payment ends at 15:00 Japan Time on the last day.
