نظرة عامة على البرنامج
EMJM STEPS (Sustainable Transportation and Electric Power Systems) is an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master delivered by Sapienza University of Rome, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, the Polytechnic University of Bucharest and other European partners. It trains electrical and electronics engineers in EV powertrains, grid integration of renewables, and smart transportation systems. ## Why this scholarship matters for African applicants Africa's energy transition (utility-scale solar in North Africa, e-mobility pilots in Kenya, Rwanda and South Africa, mini-grid sectors across the Sahel) needs engineers who can design at the intersection of transport and power systems. EMJM STEPS graduates are positioned for roles at utilities, regulators, EV OEMs and renewable IPPs. ## What the award covers Full tuition for the two-year master's, one-off €1,000 travel and installation grant, additional travel allowance for Partner Country students, and a monthly living stipend of €1,400 paid for the full duration of the programme. Insurance included. ## How the selection process works Apply directly to the EMJM STEPS consortium through the lead university's portal. A bachelor's in electrical engineering, electronics, mechatronics or related is required, plus English-language proficiency and a technical motivation letter that demonstrates fluency in power systems or vehicle engineering fundamentals. ## Application tips that move the needle Strengthen your motivation letter by citing African energy transition realities — mini-grid–EV integration in East Africa, ECG/Eskom modernisation, grid stability with high solar penetration in Morocco — and explain which of the consortium's labs you want to work with on a thesis. ## Deadlines and intake windows Scholarship-eligible deadline typically falls in early February for September intake. Confirm on the STEPS page within the Erasmus Mundus catalogue. ## Useful internal reading - Browse open scholarships: https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/scholarships - How to write a winning scholarship essay: https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/blog/how-to-write-winning-scholarship-essay - Scholarship interview questions for African students: https://scholarshipsforafricans.com/blog/scholarship-interview-questions-african-students Always confirm the live intake on the sponsor's official site before you build a timeline around it.
