University of London - Matilda Mwaba Scholarships for African Women

The University of London is presenting five scholarships on short courses for African women in honor of the late Ms. Matilda Mwaba.

Who is Matilda Mwaba?

Mwaba was the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Zambia National Organization for Women in Sports Physical Activity and Recreation (NOWSPAR). In addition, she was also the African representative for the Global Executive of the International Working Group on Women in Sport (IWG).

Furthermore, the veteran sports administrator hailed from Zambia. She was a staunch advocate for women’s empowerment in and through sports. Through Mwaba’s programs and initiatives, the participation of women and girls in sports for development, organizational development, and policy engagement on the integrity of sport was achieved.

University of London Scholarship Details

The scholarship will cover the fees for one short course or module at the University of London’s International Sports Management. Given the global travel restrictions due to COIVD-19, the award will be availed via distance learning. Successful recipients of the scholarship will also receive mentorship in the specialist subject area.

Eligibility of African Women

In order to be considered for the scholarship, the applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • First and foremost, they must a woman.
  • They should have an offer for the module or post graduate certificate at the University of London.
  • The applicants must be aged 35 or under.
  • She should also be a permanent resident of a country in Africa.
  • Lastly, the aspiring scholars must be able to provide relevant references when questioned about her eligibility.

How to Apply for a University of London short course scholarship

In order to start the application process for a University of London short course scholarship, the interested African women must first download and complete the scholarship application form found on the University of London’s website.

Next, they are required to submit an application for the short course or postgraduate certificate in International Sports Management. There will be an online application fee for the program, and the applicants must first pay the amount before proceeding.

Lastly, interested parties must submit a fully completed course application, as, without this, the University of London cannot consider her Matilda Mwaba scholarship application.
