Studying in the United Arab Emirates has several advantages, including sun, sea, and sand, possible tax-free earnings after graduation, and some of the finest universities in the Gulf area, according to the QS World University Rankings.
The United Arab Emirates, abbreviated as UAE, is made up of seven states, or emirates (kind of like a much, much smaller version of the United States). Each emirate, like states in the United States, has considerable autonomy, but there is also a central government. The Supreme Council of Rulers is composed of the seven emirs — the leaders of each emirate – who inherit their seats.
The UAE’s economy has changed dramatically since the 1950s, when oil was found in the region. In addition to oil and gas exporting, the government has focused on expanding its building and tourism sectors; to some extent, they work hand in hand; the remarkable feats of contemporary design on exhibit in Dubai are among the key attractions for visitors.

United Arab Emirates University
United Arab Emirates University is ranked 284th in the world and sixth in the Arab region. It is located in the city of Al Ain in the emirate of Abu Dhabi and is the country’s oldest university, but it is still relatively new, having been founded in 1976. Its alumni community includes many influential leaders in government and business.
American University of Sharjah
The American University of Sharjah (AUS) is ranked sixth in the Arab area and 348th in the world. AUS, which is licensed in both the UAE and the US, provides courses based on the US higher education model and is a popular choice among foreign students, resulting in a very diversified student body. It is located in Sharjah, which is a new addition to the QS Best Student Cities 2016.
Khalifa University
Khalifa University, ranked equal 211th in the world and ninth in the 2021 Arab region rankings, is a non-profit science-focused university formed in 2007 in Abu Dhabi as part of a government project. It presently has roughly 1,500 students, but proposals for a new campus indicate that the institution might eventually have up to 6,000 students.
The university is based on the American higher education framework, and it is establishing a global network of partners, faculty personnel, and research programs to enhance research and innovation in the UAE and surrounding area.
University of Sharjah
The University of Sharjah, founded in 1997 by the Emir of Sharjah, Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, is ranked 601-650 in the QS World University Rankings and 16th in the Arab area rankings. The university aspires to be a premier academic institution in the Middle East and across the globe, and it plays an essential part in the emirate of Sharjah’s socio-economic growth.
American University in Dubai (AUD)
The American Institution in Dubai (AUD) is a private university founded in 1995 that is rated 601-650 in the world and 26th in the Arab region. There are around 2,585 students enrolled, with 108 countries represented within the student population. All of the university’s programs are accredited in both the United States and the United Arab Emirates, and it provides rigorous English language programs at its Center for English Proficiency (CfEP) to help students strengthen their language abilities before beginning their studies.
