South African Scholarships for Women

The Tom Queba Memorial Fund, in collaboration with Canon Collins Trust, offers South African scholarships for women intending to pursue a master’s level study in Engineering.

Additionally, the institution is awarding two scholarships to a South African university per year in the name of Tom Queba.

Tom Queba Memorial Fund Scholarship Details

For the incoming school year, the Tom Queba Memorial Fund scholarship package is valued at ZAR 85,000. The institution shall provide funding for up to two years of either full-time or part-time study. Furthermore, they will also consider South African women who wish to study via distance learning.

The scholarship provides South African women with the opportunity to enhance their academic and leadership skills through organized events. Through the Tom Queba Memorial Fund, scholars will also be able to attend annual conferences and mixer events throughout the academic year. In turn, scholarship recipients are expected to participate in the said activities and contribute to the overall network.

Eligibility of South African Women

In order to qualify for a slot in the Tom Queba Memorial Fund, the aspiring scholars must be a black female national of, and normally a resident in, South Africa. She must also be in possession of a great first degree (minimum second class, upper division, or equivalent) or is about to graduate during the year of her application.

Moreover, the interested African women must also be studying or applying to study at a master’s level in Engineering subjects at a South African university, preferably with subjects that have societal benefit.

The candidates’ proposed study must contribute directly to social and/or environmental development, and particularly to the betterment of lives and livelihoods of the poorest people in South Africa. The grant will present scholarships for social change within these other areas as well:

• Justice
• Education
• Humanities and the Arts
• Sciences and Applied Sciences
