Scholarships in Turkey for Ethiopian students 2027
Below are the open scholarships in Turkey that accept Ethiopian applicants, with deadlines taken from official pages, followed by the upcoming Türkiye Scholarships 2027 round and a step-by-step guide. Turkish universities award most graduate scholarships automatically with admission, so the university deadline is the scholarship deadline.

How to apply to Turkey scholarships from Ethiopia
1. Know the two main routes
Route one is Türkiye Scholarships, the Turkish government's fully funded programme covering tuition, stipend, accommodation, flights and a Turkish language year. Route two is direct university awards: Bilkent and Sabancı give full tuition waivers and stipends to admitted graduate students, with no separate scholarship form.
2. Apply to the university directly
For Bilkent and Sabancı you apply to the graduate programme itself and are automatically considered for funding. Bilkent's Spring 2027 engineering and science deadline is 9 November 2026; Sabancı's Spring 2027 engineering and natural sciences deadline is 27 November 2026. Non-Turkish applicants to Bilkent submit GRE scores instead of ALES.
3. Wait for the Türkiye Scholarships 2027 call
The 2027 round has no confirmed opening date yet — recent cycles opened in January. The undergraduate, postgraduate and research calls share one portal at turkiyeburslari.gov.tr. Do not trust third-party sites announcing dates before the official portal does.
4. Prepare your documents
Have your passport, certified degree or secondary-school results with English translations, two recommendation letters, a statement of purpose and, for graduate awards, a research proposal. Türkiye Scholarships also asks for a photo and may request exam scores for some programmes.
5. Student visa from Addis Ababa
After acceptance, apply for a Turkish student visa at the Turkish Embassy in Addis Ababa with your acceptance letter, passport, photos and proof of funding — your scholarship award letter counts. Türkiye Scholarships recipients get visa support through the programme.
6. Residence permit on arrival
Within one month of arriving in Turkey, apply for a student residence permit (ikamet) online through the e-ikamet system. Universities' international offices help with the appointment, health insurance and dormitory registration.
Rules change each year — always confirm on turkiyeburslari.gov.tr and on each university's graduate admissions page.
