**Type:** Masters / PhD Degree **Location:** United Kingdom **Application deadline:** Varies per country, July – October * * * The **Rhodes Scholarships** are postgraduate awards supporting exceptional all-around students at the University of Oxford. Established in the will of Cecil Rhodes in 1902, Rhodes is the oldest and perhaps the most prestigious international scholarship program in the world. Each year, a class of 95 scholars will be granted the Rhodes Scholarship which covers the following: - All University and College fees - University application fee - A living stipend of £15,900 (as of 2019-2020) per annum - A settling allowance of £225 (as of 2019-2020) - Health insurance - VISA - (2) Two economy class flights to and from the UK The level and fields of study covered by the said scholarship is subject to limited restrictions, but Rhodes scholars may opt to study any full-time postgraduate degree at the University of Oxford. ### Eligibility Student target groups of the Rhodes Scholarship must fulfill the citizenship and residency requirements of the following countries: - Australia - Bermuda - Canada - China - East Africa (Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan, Burundi) - Germany - Hong Kong - India - Israel - Jamaica & the Commonwealth Caribbean - Kenya - Malaysia - New Zealand - Pakistan - Saudi Arabia - Singapore - Southern Africa (South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia and Swaziland) - Syria - Jordan - Lebanon and Palestine (SJLP) - United Arab Emirates - United States - West Africa (Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, the island of Saint Helena, Senegal, Sierra Leone, São Tomé and Principe, and Togo) - Zambia - Zimbabwe For students who are not under existing Rhodes constituencies, you can apply to [Global Rhodes Scholarships](https://www.scholars4dev.com/22064/rhodes-global-scholarships/). * * * Furthermore, specific age requirements differ between the Rhodes constituent countries. Typically, the range falls between 18-24, with the maximum age sometimes extending to 28. It is advised that you check the specific age requirements that fall under your country before applying. To add, the applicants’ academic standing must meet the University of Oxford’s standard of excellence. ### Application Applications for Rhodes Scholarships open during the spring and summer of the preceding year, normally 1 June or 1 July.
