International secondary-school students (including applicants from all African countries) who require a Canadian study permit, are in their final year of senior secondary school in 2026/2027 or graduated no earlier than June 2026, are nominated by their school, and will begin studies at the University of Toronto in September 2027. Students already in post-secondary study are not eligible.

## Overview The Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship is the University of Toronto's most generous award for international undergraduates. Each year a small group of students who have made an exceptional impact at their school and in their community are chosen to begin a first-entry bachelor's degree in Toronto with the full cost of study covered. The scholarship recognises academic excellence, creativity and leadership rather than financial need. ## Level and destination Undergraduate (first-entry bachelor's degree) at the University of Toronto, Canada, starting September 2027. ## Eligibility for African applicants Open to applicants from every African country. You must: * be an international student who requires a Canadian study permit; * be in your final year of senior secondary school in 2026/2027, or have graduated no earlier than June 2026; * be nominated by your school — you cannot nominate yourself; * be starting at the University of Toronto in September 2027. Students already attending post-secondary study, or starting post-secondary study in January 2027, are not eligible. ## Funding coverage and exclusions The scholarship covers tuition, books, incidental fees and full residence support for four years. It does not cover a study permit or costs outside those four categories, such as travel to Canada and personal spending beyond residence. ## Deadlines (September 2027 entry) * **9 October 2026** — deadline for your school to submit its nomination (schools joining the programme for the first time must apply by noon EST on the same date). * **16 October 2026** — deadline to apply for admission to the University of Toronto and be considered for the Pearson Scholarship. * **6 November 2026** — deadline to complete the Pearson scholarship application and submit every required document. All dates are Eastern Time (Toronto). ## How to apply 1. Ask your school's guidance office to nominate you through U of T's nomination form before 9 October 2026. 2. Submit your University of Toronto admission application by 16 October 2026, choosing a first-entry undergraduate programme. 3. Complete the Pearson scholarship application and upload all supporting documents by 6 November 2026. 4.
