ISTA’s year-round scientific internships offer research placements in Austria for students and recent graduates in natural sciences, computer science, mathematics and related disciplines. They are separate from the summer ISTernship Fellowship, which is paused; that pause does not close the year-round route. Pay and eligibility Successful interns receive an employment contract with a minimum salary of €1,583 gross monthly for 2–12 months. ISTA charges no application or processing fee. The programme does not promise separate travel or accommodation grants. Interns cannot simultaneously be employed or funded elsewhere. Applicants need good English, relevant preparation and a research match. There is no published African-nationality exclusion, but each application is considered individually under ISTA’s research-security policy. Appointment depends on a group’s interest, sufficient salary funding and Academic Affairs approval. Not every group accepts interns.
