International students entering directly from secondary school (graduated June 2026 or later) for a first UBC bachelor's, with exceptional academics and leadership, significant financial need, and a school nomination.

The University of British Columbia's International Scholars Program (including the Karen McKellin International Leader of Tomorrow Award and the Donald A. Wehrung International Student Award) supports exceptional international students who could not study at UBC without significant financial help. ## Who can apply - International students entering UBC directly from an accredited secondary school for a first bachelor's degree - For 2027 Winter session: graduated from high school no earlier than June 2026 - Exceptional academic record and leadership/community involvement - Significant, documented financial need - Nominated by your school (or a registered non-profit): a school may nominate up to two students for UBC Vancouver and one for UBC Okanagan ## What it covers Award value is based on demonstrated financial need and can cover a large share of tuition and living costs; UBC sets the amount per student. ## Steps for the September 2027 intake - Late September 2026: discuss the nomination with your school; line up a nominator and a separate teacher referee - Early October 2026: apply to UBC and create your award account (UBC says the award application opens in early October 2026) - Mid-October: calculate financial need and complete your sections - **By 15 November 2026: submit the completed award application** (nominator and referee forms must be in a few days earlier)
