International first-year undergraduate applicants of all African nationalities, subject to need-aware admission and timely initial aid application. International transfer aid or scholarships are exceptionally rare and must not be represented as the same first-year offer.

Grinnell College in Iowa offers need-based support to admitted international first-year students, including applicants from every African country. It meets 100% of the financial need it calculates through grants and student employment. International admission is need-aware, so a request for aid can affect selection. The award is not an unconditional full ride: the family’s assessed contribution and expenses outside the package remain payable. How to apply Submit the Common Application and indicate your need for financial assistance. There is no admission application fee. Submit the academic records and recommendations required for admission, plus English-proficiency evidence where applicable; SAT/ACT scores are optional. Complete either the 2027–28 CSS Profile or Grinnell’s free International Student Application for Financial Assistance. Grinnell does not issue CSS fee waivers. The institutional alternative is an online form available through the applicant portal after the admission application; PDFs and emailed forms are not accepted. Fall 2027 deadlines Admission and financial-aid materials share the same deadline: - Early Decision I: November 15, 2026. - Early Decision II: January 5, 2027. - Regular Decision: January 15, 2027. Early Decision is binding. Submit the aid application before admission, not after receiving an offer. Applicants who do not request aid in their first year cannot apply for it later. Continuing support and transfers Grinnell’s published international policy does not reevaluate eligibility each year or accept requests for additional help because family circumstances change.
