Any nationality; terminal degree or ABD doctoral candidate/international equivalent; full-time early-modern humanities research drawing on Folger collections. Onsite, virtual or hybrid possible. Maximum two Folger awards per project and one per cycle. Funding periods cannot overlap another research grant or fellowship. A collaborative project may have only its lead apply.

Folger Short-Term Scholarly Fellowship Provider: Folger Shakespeare Library Study destination: United States Study level: PhD, Postdoctoral Award One to three months: USD5,000/month onsite or USD4,000/month virtual. Eligibility Any nationality; terminal degree or ABD doctoral candidate/international equivalent; full-time early-modern humanities research drawing on Folger collections. Eligible African countries: Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cabo Verde, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of the Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, São Tomé and Príncipe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
