Mundus Journalism is the longest-running Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in Journalism, Media and Globalisation, delivered by Aarhus University (Denmark) with partner universities in Amsterdam, Hamburg, Swansea and Beijing. Students complete a foundational year in Aarhus, then specialise in one of four tracks at a partner university. ## Why this scholarship matters for African applicants Mundus Journalism alumni include senior editors at the BBC Africa Service, Reuters, Bloomberg, Premium Times, The Continent, AJ+ and many leading African newsrooms. The programme is one of the strongest credentials in international, investigative and data journalism on the continent. ## What the award covers Full tuition for the two-year master's, one-off €1,000 travel and installation grant, additional travel allowance for Partner Country students, and a monthly living stipend of €1,400 paid for the full programme duration. Insurance and visa costs included. ## How the selection process works Apply directly to Mundus Journalism through Aarhus University's admissions portal. A bachelor's degree (any discipline, journalism background not required), demonstrable journalism experience (clips, freelance work, student newspaper, broadcast), English-language proficiency and a strong motivation letter are required. ## Application tips that move the needle Make your portfolio do the work — three to five strong clips with public links are more persuasive than a generic motivation letter. African applicants should frame the personal statement around a specific reporting agenda (e.g. climate investigations in the Sahel, fintech accountability in Lagos, conflict reporting in the Horn). ## Deadlines and intake windows Scholarship-eligible deadline falls in early December for the September intake.
