Présentation du programme
## Overview The MSc Environmental Governance (MEG) at the University of Freiburg has been running since 2005 and is recognised by DAAD as a development-related postgraduate course. A limited number of EPOS scholarships are attached to it, awarded through a two-stage selection: the programme committee shortlists, then DAAD makes the final decision. ## Level and destination Two-year, 120-ECTS master's taught in English at the University of Freiburg, Germany, starting in the winter semester (October). Cohorts are small — around 35 students. ## Eligibility for African applicants * From a DAAD-eligible developing (DAC) country. * Academic degree no more than six years old at the time of application — that is, October 2026. * Degree result well above average (upper third of your cohort). * At least two years' relevant professional experience after your bachelor's. Internships and voluntary work do not count, and university teaching or research is normally not accepted. * Must also meet the MEG programme's own admission criteria. ## Funding coverage and exclusions DAAD EPOS support — monthly living stipend, health insurance and travel costs — plus a **tuition-fee exemption**: non-EU students normally pay €1,500 per semester, and scholarship recipients do not. Check the DAAD EPOS scheme page for current stipend rates and extras. ## Deadline **15 October 2026**, for studies beginning October 2027. The window opened 15 June 2026. Note the timing: the scholarship application is submitted a full year ahead of admission. If you are self-funding, the regular deadline is 15 May instead. ## How to apply The MEG programme application and the scholarship application are a single set of documents — one submission covers both. Follow the document list on the DAAD scholarship page and submit before 15 October 2026. The programme also runs online Q&A sessions for DAC-country applicants. ## Official links Scholarship details: [MEG DAAD/EPOS page](https://www.meg.uni-freiburg.de/admissions/Scholarships/daad%20scholarship) · Announcement: [DAAD-MEG applications now open](https://www.meg.uni-freiburg.de/News/daad-meg-applications-now-open-1) **Verified:** 19 September 2026.
