Smith College in Massachusetts provides need-based financial aid to admitted international first-year and transfer undergraduates, including applicants from every African country. Smith is a women’s college and considers applicants who self-identify as women, including cis, trans and nonbinary women. Funding Smith meets the full documented need it calculates for admitted students who submit aid applications on time. Its undergraduate institutional need-aid packages do not include loans. This is not a uniform full-cost award: the assessed family contribution and costs outside the package remain the family’s responsibility. For international recipients, Smith states that the expected family contribution remains stable and its grant is adjusted accordingly; any cost increases not covered by aid remain payable. Submit the 2027–28 CSS Profile using Smith code 3762, the noncustodial parent Profile where applicable, and required 2025 tax or non-filer income documentation with translations. Follow College Board IDOC and Smith Net Partner instructions. A CSS fee-waiver request is available for significant financial hardship. Allow time after CSS submission to upload documents before the deadline. 2027–28 deadlines - Early Decision I: admission and aid by November 15, 2026. - Early Decision II: admission by January 5, 2027; aid by January 6. - Regular Decision: admission by January 15, 2027; aid by January 25. - September 2027 transfers: international aid by March 11; transfer admission by April 1. Do not wait for the later admission date to request aid. Both Early Decision plans are binding. Smith permits release when an aid offer does not make attendance possible. International students who do not request aid before admission cannot receive institutional aid later. International transfers normally must be enrolled at a North American college; Smith considers exceptions individually. Those seeking a second bachelor’s degree or holding over 64 transferable credits are ineligible. First-year students at overseas institutions may apply as first-years. Applicants aged 24 or older, veterans, or those with a dependent other than a spouse use the separate Ada Comstock process.
