The Max Planck Institutes for Informatics, Software Systems, and Security and Privacy offer competitive computer-science research internships in Germany. Typical placements last 12–14 weeks, with longer arrangements possible. Funding includes a living-cost stipend, housing and return travel from the intern’s usual residence. Eligibility Applicants worldwide, including Africans, may be bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral students, graduates between programmes, or industry candidates seeking academic research. They need excellent academics, professional English and relevant computer-science preparation roughly equivalent to three undergraduate years. Research experience can support the assessment. This is not general industry-career training or an entry-level switch into computing. Timing and application For May–August starts, the annual deadline is 1 November of the previous year. Thus summer 2027 applications are due 1 November 2026 under the published annual rule, not a separately announced 2027 call. Other starts require application at least five months beforehand.
