Global Excellence and Mobility Scholarship (GEMS) Provider: Monash University Malaysia Study destination: Malaysia, Australia, Indonesia, India Study level: PhD Award Full tuition up to four years; 42-month stipend, MYR 9,000 mobility grant; stipend varies by host location. Eligibility Malaysian/international full-time PhD candidates, first-class honours equivalent, one advertised research topic and mobility requirement. Eligible African countries: Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cabo Verde, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of the Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, São Tomé and Príncipe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe. All other academic, residency and programme requirements also apply. Application timing 2027 intake closes 25 January 2027; remaining 2026 topics close 31 October 2026.
