نظرة عامة على البرنامج

Programme category: Scholarship Application status checked on 22 October 2026: OPEN. Boston University’s Presidential Scholarship is a competitive merit award for incoming first-year undergraduates. International applicants, including students from every African country, are eligible. Candidates are assessed for exceptional academics and leadership or achievement beyond the classroom. Funding The award covers half of annual tuition, effective for students entering from fall 2026. It is renewable for up to four years, not a fixed historical dollar amount or a full ride. The balance of tuition, housing, meals, travel and other non-tuition expenses requires other funding. See the official award terms (https://www.bu.edu/admissions/tuition-aid/scholarships-financial-aid/first-year-merit/presidential/). BU’s renewal guidance (https://www.bu.edu/finaid/how-aid-works/types-of-aid/scholarships-grants/merit-based/how-scholarships-are-renewed/) provides for up to eight fall/spring semesters subject to the award conditions. General merit requirements include at least a 2.00 GPA, satisfactory completion of 12 credits each semester and good disciplinary standing. The individual award letter controls any additional requirements. Application and deadline There is no separate scholarship form or extra scholarship essay. Submit the first-year admission application (https://www.bu.edu/admissions/apply/first-year/) and supporting credentials by December 1. The next deadline under the published annual rule is December 1, 2026; BU does not label the scholarship page as a separate 2027 competition. This scholarship deadline is earlier than regular admission and must not be confused with it. International applicants must also satisfy the international checklist (https://www.bu.edu/admissions/apply/international/), including academic records, applicable English-proficiency evidence and financial-support documentation. The Presidential award is not a transfer scholarship. Choosing an Early Decision admission plan (https://www.bu.edu/admissions/apply/early-decision/) is a separate binding commitment, not a condition for merit consideration. BU need-based financial aid is limited to U.S. citizens and permanent residents; other international applicants must arrange their remaining funding without assuming access to it. Application timing Admission application and supporting credentials must be submitted by December 1 annually. The next occurrence is December 1, 2026; the scholarship page presents an annual rule rather than a separately labelled 2027 call.
